What will I study?

Andy Burt, Trainer, Early Excellence

Andy Burt is an experienced EYFS Teacher and School Leader who has explored open ended, creative and innovative approaches to learning over a number of years. Research done in collaboration with Professor Pat Broadhead, focusing on Andy's work, led to the exploration "the whatever you want it to be place" and the co written text Understanding Young Children's Learning through Play which was published by Routledge in 2011. 

In Pursuit of Excellence in the EYFS: Understanding Quality Practice (morning session)

This session for Heads and EYFS leaders will start to consider the key principles for confidently monitoring the EYFS and striving for outstanding. Participants will access resources to support with the quality assurance and the evaluation of practice, provision and impact in their EYFS.

Improving Provision for Language and Communication in the EYFS (afternoon session)

Research has repeatedly shown that children who experience high quality communication and language opportunities achieve better outcomes in school and in life. Understanding how to use continuous provision is at the heart of a quality planning framework for all children in the early years and this session will outline how an enabling environment can be used to support communication and language development in a meaningful and inspiring way.
